Gaby's Bio
Gaby's Bio
I have worked as an Instructional Technology Specialist at the Elementary and Middle School levels for the past thirteen years. I am always looking for ways to engage students in lessons rooted in constructivist theory and pedagogy. I have a good grasp of how technology integration enhances the learning experience for students while preparing them to work and live in the 21st Century.
I have been a member of the MassCUE Board since 2005. I have been a member of the Professional Development Committee and I Chaired the SIG Committee from 2006-2011. I ran the Tri-County SIG that met monthly in South Deerfield for 5 years. That group will likely morph into an Tri-County iPad User Group in the fall of 2013 because much of the work I am doing now is with iPads.
I was ISTE’s BYOD Program Chair for the 2011 Conference in Philadelphia and the understudy in Denver. I gained insight in ISTE’s operations and feel I was a good collaborator.
I have presented at the MassCUE conference on topics including: Digital Images across the Curriculum; ABC’s and 123’s - Keyboarding Strategies for K-8; Powerful Movie Projects with Kids; On Beyond Google - Web Literacy for Teachers and Students; and Standards In Motion, animation using the tools you have.
I recently did a webinar for NEISTE – iPads- Novice User to Expert in 60 minutes. This workshop focuses on using the device rather than a stream of apps. I feel it’s like the missing manual.
I have also presented at the MTA Summer Conference, the MCLA Conference, the Franklin County In-service Day, Frontier Regional Schools, the Pocumtuck Valley Memorial Association, the Hatfield Public Schools, the Northboro-Southboro Public Schools, and the Orange Public Schools.
I have an MS in the Coaching of Women’s Sports from Smith College and an MA in Internet Strategies Management from the Persons School at the GradCenter of Marlboro College. I am interested in earning my Doctorate in order to work with pre-service teachers.
I design websites and quilts. I am an accomplished field hockey player and official. I read voraciously, play the flute, love to ski, love the beach; and I grew up in NYC.
I would love to come to your school to work with you and your staff on topics such as iPads, interactive boards, educational technology, self-directed learning, information literacy or Web 2.0 tools! All workshops are customized to the goals and needs of your audience. I am a dynamic presenter and my innovative, yet practical ideas can be used immediately. With limited funds, a full day or shorter session with me will prove to be of ultimate value in terms of your time and budget.
Email me to schedule a workshop.
